Mahindra is gearing up to introduce facelift versions of two of its highest-selling SUVs, the Thar and XUV700, in 2026. These updates aim to bring significant changes to the styling and equipment of both models, while retaining their current powertrain options.

Thar Facelift: A Modern Twist on a Classic Design

The Thar facelift, internally codenamed W515, will borrow several design cues from the Thar Roxx. The front fascia is expected to undergo a major refresh, featuring a new grille with double-stacked slots, C-shaped LED DRLs, and redesigned bumpers. The side profile will see new alloy wheels and updated body cladding, while the rear profile will have minor adjustments to the bumper design and tail lamps. Inside, the Thar facelift will get a fully digital instrument cluster, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and possibly a sunroof for hardtop variants. The powertrain options will remain unchanged, with the petrol variants using a 2.0-litre engine and the diesel variants offering a 1.5-litre and a 2.2-litre unit.

XUV700 Facelift: A Futuristic Makeover

The XUV700 facelift, codenamed W616, will draw inspiration from Mahindra’s new electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The exterior updates will include a connected LED headlight setup, a redesigned grille, squared-off wheel arches, and sharper body cladding. The interior will receive a sportier makeover, with a cleaner layout and more features. The dashboard may feature a large triple-screen setup, similar to the XEV 9e, enhancing the overall tech experience. The powertrain options will remain the same, with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and the 2.2-litre diesel engine continuing to power the SUV.

The upcoming facelifts of the Mahindra Thar and XUV700 promise to bring a fresh look and enhanced features to these popular SUVs. While the mechanical aspects will remain largely unchanged, the updated designs and added features are expected to make these models even more appealing to consumers.
