BYD has recently launched the updated 2025 BYD Atto 3 in China, with significant design and technological enhancements. This electric SUV, known as the Yuan Plus in China, has received a facelift that includes new styling, an overhauled interior, and advanced technology. The updated Atto 3 is expected to boost sales in the competitive Chinese market.
Exterior Design
The 2025 BYD Atto 3 features a refreshed exterior with redesigned front and rear bumpers, giving it a sharper and more aggressive look. The model introduces a new ‘Chinese knot’ LED tail-light signature, a revised rear spoiler, and side skirts. Additionally, fresh 17- and 18-inch wheel designs complement the exterior, while a new beige paint option expands the color palette.
Interior and Tech Enhancements
Inside, the Atto 3 gets a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, now mounted on the dashboard instead of the steering column. The previously unique muscle-inspired dashboard pattern has been removed for a more conventional look, but BYD has retained the signature ‘guitar string’ door pocket design. The gear selector has been relocated to a steering column stalk, which required a complete redesign of the center console. The updated console now features a more prominent 50-watt wireless phone charger, additional storage space for a second phone, and newly designed buttons.
The main feature of the updated BYD Atto 3 is the Gods’ Eye C intelligent driving system, also known as the DiPilot 100 system. This system includes a tri-camera block under the windshield, capable of high-speed Navigation On Autopilot (NOA) with 10 using scenarios supported. The system will later be updated with the NOA function for city driving.
Powertrain
Despite the design and interior updates, the Atto 3’s technical specifications remain unchanged. It will continue to be offered with two battery options: a 49.9kWh pack and a 60.5kWh pack, paired with a 150kW/310Nm front-mounted electric motor. The two LFP battery options provide 430 km and 510 km range under CLTC conditions, respectively.
Availability and Pricing
The updated BYD Atto 3 is available for purchase in China in five trim levels, with a price range of 115,800 – 145,800 yuan (15,940 – 20,070 USD). The entry-level model of this SUV became 1,000 yuan cheaper, while the top-trim level Atto 3 became 1,000 yuan more expensive.
Global Availability
BYD Australia has yet to confirm if and when the updated Atto 3 will arrive. A spokesperson for the company has stated that right-hand-drive versions of new models typically take 12 to 24 months to develop after their launch in China. Given BYD’s aggressive expansion strategy, it is likely that an Australian version of the facelifted Atto 3 could arrive in late 2025 or early 2026.
The 2025 BYD Atto 3 offers significant enhancements in design and technology, making it a more appealing option in the electric SUV segment. With its refreshed styling, advanced driver-assistance system, and improved interior features, the Atto 3 is poised to attract more buyers in the Chinese market and beyond.
